The Story of Alfie

My brother, Alfred Klein, needs a kidney donor to live. He was born 10/22/46 in Stuttgart, Germany in a Displaced persons camp. My mother was liberated from the Bergen Belsen concentration camp on 4/15/45. She met my dad at a train station in Prague looking to see if any of her siblings survived the Holocaust. She was the only one who survived having had 4 siblings, parents, grandparents, nieces, nephews who perished. My dad rode a bike to her village to take her to join his sisters who had survived. They were married in late Dec and my brother was born around 9 months later. He represented new life after devastation. My mother is still alive and strong. He always promised that he would buy her a Cadillac and a place to live. He purchased a condo in Palm Springs, CA for my parents about 25 years ago. It became the vacation home for my family. He provided TV, printer, videos, games, etc for all his nieces and nephews to enjoy. My son loves him like a father and he became the replacement dad after my husband passed away 4/20/16 after close to 8 year battle with cancer.
My brother flew all night from CA to make it to the funeral and stayed with me for a week despite suffering from Kidney disease. He is at stage 5 now and on dialysis 3 days a week. I sent my husband's caregiver to take care of him and his 3 German Shepherds. My brother donates to the arts, environment, and helps out friends and family as needed. He is kind hearted with a generous spirit. Any friends or acquaintances that needed a place to stay when they went to to CA, he opened up his home to all.
He was a ballroom and swing dancer, as well as an avid hiker.  He also acted in a documentary on survival and in the local theater in the Desert. He is a graduate of the University of Michigan where he also acted as an avocation and University of California at Berkley for graduate school. He is brilliant and an asset to life. Please help me save him by posting my story and this page on your wall. We are in a race against time. My mother's life is full of losses and she could not endure another one. He commissioned a writer to write her story of survival for future generations to learn the value of life from her. My brother's blood type is A positive. There is a paired exchange for any donor to give for him to get his match.
